A: The HR-12 rail is 1-5/8” x 1”. So yes, your rail will fit inside. However, there will be about 3/8” of play, meaning the rail can move slightly side to side. If you do not want the rail to move, you’ll need to either use a 3/8” wide shim or run a screw through the mount into the rail to hold it in place. Unfortunately, we do not carry a mount that fits the exact 1-1/4” x 1” rail dimensions.

Q: I’m interested in purchasing a weldable gate latch. It seems that the latch doesn’t secure to the post.
A: The latch is designed to be more secure than a screwed-on catch. However, if you prefer an external catch, the small U-brackets that work with the latch are typically available at most hardware stores. You’ll need a U-bracket that allows a ½” diameter bar to fit through.

Q: I have a 0.25" fence post, and I need finials. I saw that you have some on sale, but they are 0.75". Will those fit on the post I have?
A: Unfortunately, the 3/4" finials will be too large for a 1/4" fence post. We do not carry 1/4" finials, and the 3/4" size will not fit your post.

Q: Do the aluminum post caps come in 4x6 size?
A: No, we only carry 4x4 aluminum post caps.

Q: What size rail fits inside?
A: The rail size is 1” x 1-5/8".

Q: I am looking for a 4" end cap for a side rail on a vintage handrail. Do you carry this size?
A: Currently, we do not carry end caps in that size.

Q: I need a corner post for a fence. Do you have any available?
A: We have corner posts available for our own unique fence system, and they come in three colors. However, if you're using a corner post from another brand, it may not be compatible with our system.

Q: Do you sell an aluminum lock box for a gate?
A: Yes, we do. We typically stock two sizes of aluminum lock boxes, available in both single and double configurations: one with a 1-1/4" depth and one with a 2" depth. What size are you looking for?

Q: I’m looking for a handrail end cap.
A: All of our aluminum and plastic end caps on the site fit handrail ends. What style do you have in mind?

Q: We are in need of black plastic glides for 1/2" x 2" x 16 ga. tubing. Can you help us?
A: Unfortunately, we do not carry that size.

Q: I’m looking for a post base cover, 1 1/2” square. Needs to be black or a material that I can spray paint. I’m looking for something simple, with no excessive design—just needs to hide the screws and be as unnoticeable as possible. Anything available? I found an aluminum one on your Amazon store that was 2" square. Do you have anything in 1 1/2”?
A: Unfortunately, we do not carry cover shoes for anything smaller than 2” square.

Q: I’m looking for a stainless steel, self-closing weld-on hinge. Is this something you have in stock?
A: We do not have a weld-on stainless steel self-closing hinge. However, we carry three styles of stainless steel hinges. Could you provide the size and approximate weight of your gate?

Q: Do you have shoe flanges for aluminum handrails in a 1 3/4" size instead of 2"?
A: Sorry, we do not have that size available.

Q: I’m looking for a 1/2" black plastic plug for steel fence pickets.
A: The smallest size we carry is 3/4”.

Q: What is the difference between die-cast and sand-cast?
A: Sand casting is an older method of manufacturing, where a mold is created in a sand pit. The shape is hollowed out in the sand, and molten aluminum is poured into it. Die casting is a more advanced process, where metal dies are used inside a machine. Molten aluminum is injected under high pressure, which reduces pitting and trapped bubbles, resulting in a much smoother, more refined part.

Q: How do they attach to the post?
A: You can attach them by welding, gluing, or using screws—whichever method works best for your application.

Q: What can we expect them to look like after a few years of exposure to the weather?
A: It depends on how the customer maintains them. If they are primed and painted, they should maintain their appearance for many years.

Q: Does anyone make solar 2" x 3 1/2" gate post lights for vinyl fences?
A: We are not aware of any company that makes that exact size.

Q: I have a standard 6' high, 4' wide vinyl gate. It is equipped with a catch that the puppies can defeat with ease. We have a spring clip on the outside, which works great unless we're trying to get out. Putting it on the inside causes a similar problem, naturally. Are there latches that are more like doorknobs—something requiring opposable thumbs or a level of dexterity beyond that of a German Shepherd or Husky?
A: We do not carry anything with a doorknob-type handle. The only latch we have that twists is the HW5.046. We offer several other latch options that are push-button or lever-activated. These are typically dog-proof, but in theory, a large dog could open them if they pressed the button or lever just right.

Q: Do you have unpainted 3" pole bases? Tall Europa?
A: We carry square pole bases in 3", but we do not carry round ones.

Q: Just wondering—can you get any longer ones with longer threads? I asked the guy I order from, and he said the threads were 7" long, but they aren't that long.
A: Unfortunately, we don’t carry any with longer bolts. The 7” dimension includes more than just the J-bolt length. That’s how those hinges have always been described.

Q: Regarding your plastic tube plug (white) for 3/4" square tubing, I need to know the wall thickness variation for this plug. I use a .062 wall 3/4" square tube—will your plug cap work with this?
A: Yes, the plug is designed to fit the most common 3/4" square tube sizes, including a .062 wall thickness.

Q: What is the difference between HR-1 and HR-10?
A: The difference is that they are two different styles of top caps.

Q: I’m looking for a price on one Golf Ball Post top for a 3" post.
A: The post top we carry that is similar to a golf ball is a smooth ball shape. We offer this for both round and square posts.

Q: Looking for some self-closing hinges, preferably weldable, for a pool fence.
A: Most of our hinges are self-closing. However, all of them are attached with screws or bolts. Our weld-on hinges are designed for heavier gates, which require larger springs to close properly.

Q: Do I need to weld your finials? I have a 3/4" square aluminum post and I want to simply place a finial on top of it. Is this possible with your product?
A: Our finials are made to be welded on, but they can also be attached with screws or glue. Alternatively, we offer plastic finials that can be pressed on without the need for glue.

Q: We have your lock installed at our community pool and need additional keys for new residents. The key is a small silver flat key. It has “D & D” on one side and the number 62464 on the other. Can we order more of these keys, and at what cost? I would like to order ten of them.

Q: When I unlock it from the inside, I can feel it click and the latch inside will open, but the push button on the outside won’t open until I also unlock it from the outside. So, if one of my tenants unlocks it from the inside, walks out, and closes the gate behind them, they will assume the gate is unlocked, but it will still remain locked from the outside. Is this by design, or is it defective? I have tried this several times. It has the same problem with both of the keys.
A: For the LOKKLATCH D&D Black Two-Sided Key-Lockable General Purpose Gate Latch, if you lock it from the inside, you need to unlock it from the inside as well. Otherwise, you cannot re-enter from the outside. If you lock it from the outside, you can still exit from the inside, but you must unlock it again from the outside to re-enter. The latch can be operated and locked from either side of the gate when combined with the included external access kit. Please note that locking the external access does not lock the main latch.

Q: Can your aluminum caps be painted?
A: Yes, all aluminum parts can be primed and painted.

Q: I'm looking for the spring that returns the latch to the locked position for a standard PVC gate latch. Do you carry this item?
A: We carry a large gate spring that closes the gate itself, but not a specific spring for the latch return.

Q: Do you have any 3" square tubing flanges in 316L for a marine application?
A: Unfortunately, we do not carry 316L tubing flanges. We only have aluminum.

Q: I’m not sure if you can help me, but I came across your website while looking for a 2" x 1" ID mount for a piece of 2" x 1" OD rectangular aluminum tube I have. It is for something other than a fence. I really need something like part AL14.004 but longer—say, 6"—for my purposes. Do you have anything like that?
A: Unfortunately, we do not have a mount like that.

A: Item # AL11.015 has square corners inside.

A: What material is the post you are working with?

A: The overall height of the unit is 1.6". The length of the post that can fit inside is just under 1/2", approximately 0.47" - 0.48".

Q: Does the 4" pyramid post cap (die-cast aluminum, Item # AL11.067) apply to a nominal 4x4 wood post? Could you tell me the inner measurements of this product? It should be 3 5/8" x 3 5/8", right?
A: No, the inner measurement of the aluminum cap is just over 4" x 4". It is made to fit metal posts, not wood posts. We do have a few thousand copper-plated pyramid caps for wood posts in DF that fit either 3-1/2" or 3-5/8" square wood posts.

Q: Can you please tell me the inside dimension of the 4" flat top post cap (Item # AL11.070)?
A: It is just a tiny bit over 4” so it can fit over a 4” square post.

Q: The posts we have are 5” square. Will these fit, as the measurement of the cap we need is 4.5”?
A: If the post is 5” square, a 4.5” cap will not fit. Our 5” caps are made to fit true 5” square posts.

Q: Do you have a bottom picture of these? I need to know if these need to be glued on or if they get tapped on with a hammer.
A: They need to be welded or glued on. They usually won’t fit tightly enough to just tap on. The flat-top version of the cap WILL usually fit tight enough to tap on. This applies to both AL11.050 and AL11.061.

Q: I'm looking at your pyramid post caps, specifically the 3" version AL11.057. I need to know if the 3" dimension refers to the height of the entire part, or if it refers to the height of the side wall. The same question applies to AL11.050.
A: The 2.5” and 3” cap dimensions refer to the size of the post they fit over.
The following dimensions are the same for both caps:

• Side wall: 0.625”
• Overall height: 1”

Q: Do you sell the 3" pyramid post cap (die-cast aluminum, Item # AL11.057) with no paint or powder coat on them?
A: Yes, AL11.057 (3" pyramid post cap - die-cast aluminum) is available unpainted. You can find them on the first page of the aluminum post caps section on our website.

Q: Question about item AL11.057. Does this fit over a 3" x 3" aluminum square post? Can you provide a measured drawing or a sample part?

Q: I would like to know the difference between item AL11.068 (ball cap) and item AL11.065 (ball cap).

• AL11.065 is die-cast, which is the most modern way to make castings. It has a much smoother finish.
• AL11.068 is sand-cast, which is the traditional method used for hundreds of years. It has a slightly rougher surface finish.

A: No, it is made for an aluminum post that measures a true 6” x 6”. Wood posts are typically closer to 5.5” x 5.5”. If you want to paint the caps and screw them to wood posts, they will work. You will just need to align the caps carefully, as they will only make contact on two sides.

A: These items are just slightly larger than 1.5” square inside. This allows a 1.5” square tube to be inserted into them.

A: Yes, these are made specifically for a 2” square post to fit inside.

Q: I live in Palm Aire, and most of our buildings have aluminum railings made in the 70s. Most of which have lost their caps over time. I would like to know if it is possible to find compatible end caps, even if they might not match the original shape, but could still provide a safe end to the railing. Preferably in plastic.

I am attaching photos of the original end caps (no need for the side extension), and of the rail section, which includes internal measurements (external measurements are 2 5/8" x 1", and internal horizontal space is 7/8").

Initially, we would be interested in around 180 caps and would let other associations within Palm Aire know of the option if a solution is found.

A: We recommend AL15.036 as a possible fit for your railing. However, we do not carry a plastic option for this.

Q: I ordered aluminum railing caps, AL15.050.WH - HR1 END CAP - AL - WH. They fall out the end of the railing. Is there another piece to hold them in place?
A: Installers typically use a small self-drilling (tek) screw to secure them in place. If you prefer not to have a visible screw, a metal adhesive can be used instead.
